Is This It?
I’m a wife and mother of six children. Yes, SIX children! As you can imagine, my life has always been and will always be busy. There’s been many meals cooked, school projects done, and events attended. My kids are all grown up now but raising them is one of my proudest accomplishments.
With a life like mine it’s easy to think that you don’t have the time or even the capacity to do anything else. It’s easy to start believing that being a wife and mother is all there is.
Let’s be honest. When you’re chasing around 6 kids, cleaning up behind them, driving them around to their events, making sure they’re fed, and doing all the things a mother does, you sometimes ask yourself, “Is this all God made me for?”
“Was I just made to be a mother and wife?”
It doesn’t mean I’m ashamed to be those things, but it’s sometimes hard to see beyond the season of life you’re in.
Discovering Who I’m Made to Be
We first came to City Church seven years ago. My son in law found the church online and insisted for us to visit. One of the things that really impacted me was the church’s heart for the community. I’ve been a Christian for most of my adult life and as a family we served whenever we could.
But something changed in me when we arrived at City Church.
It’s like God began to show me this other side of me that I never knew existed but always wanted to have. I began getting involved at the church and serving alongside my family. I LOVED it! And I wanted more.
Next thing you know, I was serving on my own. I couldn’t get enough of the fact that I was able to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Soon enough, I was leading entire outreach teams and events. I discovered my purpose and how to be a leader outside of my home.
Empowered to Lead
Currently, my husband and I serve as two of the Service Pastors at City Church. I absolutely love what I get to do. It’s amazing to lead people into an experience with Christ.
If I could say one thing to every woman reading, it would be this: Get the best of both worlds. God has so much more for you! He wants you to not just live, but to live fully alive in Him.
I love being a wife, a mother to our six children and grandmother to our ten grandchildren. These are a few of the most important roles we as women can fill… but we are not just limited to that.
God has a place for us in His church and in this world to be leaders!
We can not underestimate the importance of our contribution as women to bring our gifts to the table to further God’s mission and to be a part of something so much bigger than ourselves… to be world changers!
